A tree that seemed to have such rare beauty made you question whether it was real or just your imagination.

If so, you might have come across the magical Parijat tree, also known as night-blooming jasmine.

Night blooming Jasmine, Harshringar or Parijat is the state flower of West Bengal. It produces beautiful and sweet-smelling flowers that open at night.

Parijat is one of those beautiful and mysterious plants that fall to the ground after flowering. Flowers bloom at night and fall from the branches at the first rays of light. These fragrant flowers spread fragrance in the surrounding area with a strong sweet floral fragrance.

What makes it special:
Pleasantly scented flowering plant.
One of the best attractive flowering plants.
The perfect plant for the outdoor garden and sunny balcony.
A night blooming plant.
Parijat belongs to Oleaceae family. Also known as night blooming jasmine and coral jasmine around the world. The four to eight petals of the flower are arranged in a pinwheel pattern above a brassy orange tube. The tree is sometimes called the Tree of Sorrow because the flowers lose their luster during the day.

These flowers bloom from August to December. Beautiful and mysterious plants that fall to the ground after flowering.

Sunlight
This plant loves the sun. Once it has grown place it in a location that receives 5 to 6 hours of direct sunlight. Avoid growing it in a shady area.

Watering
Keep the soil moist but moist. Water the soil only when you feel that the topsoil is not wet. Check the moisture level of the soil by soaking it with your finger or a simple small stick. Water the top inch of the pot or when the soil feels dry to the touch. Water preferably in the morning or at night. Avoid overwatering the plant.

Soil
Use moist soil that drains well. Add organic matter like manure, compost to it. Any common potting soil offered for pot plants can be used for containers. you can make your own soil mix by combining equal parts of coarse sand, garden soil, and manure.

Fertilizer
Loosen topsoil before applying fertilizer without disturbing plant roots so that nutrients and moisture can be absorbed. Feed the plant with an organic fertilizer once a month throughout the primary growing season. After fertilizing immediately follow watering.

Climate
This plant grows best in normal climate. Protect it from prolonged exposure to the strong afternoon sun in summer.

Pruning
Prune the plant in September after the flowering period. It promotes growth and helps the plant to remove damaged stems.

Propagation
This plant can be easily propagated by cuttings. The cuttings should be planted in a pot with well draining potting soil. Water it well. Then wrap it in a plastic bag and place the pot in an area with bright filtered sunlight. Moisten the soil frequently if it feels dry to the touch. Within 3-4 weeks after the planting date the cutting will develop new roots. This plant prefers outdoor partial shade conditions.
